We will be having our Summer Reading Program this year only in a different way.  There will be no programs here at the library.  You will need to stop by the library and register for the program starting Monday, June 8.  We are open from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

We are also changing the way of getting awards.  Reading is its own REWARD!!! We want children to continue reading over the summer.  (LAKECONEWS.COM 5-11-2020)  I have been looking at other programs throughout the country and one that will benefit our readers and our library is for every 20 easy books read for children infant through 3rd grade and every 10 books read for 4th -8th grade, the library will purchase a new book (the money for these purchases will be from the Friends of the Library who normally pay for our program each summer) and the child meeting these goals will be the first to be able to check this book out when it is available.  There will also be a placard placed in the front of the book with the Friends of the Library and the child’s first name on it.  What child doesn’t like to see their name in a book.  I will need the title and the number of pages in the book on their reading logs along with their name.  You can either email me the information at [email protected] or drop it by the library.

I encourage you to encourage your child to read each day.  We have Tumble books available on our webpage and you can look at our e-book selection, both are under databases.  You can also check out books for your children here at the library or read from their own home collection.
